Stopped by a Staff

My first blog seems to have the most memorable unfortunately the most embarrassing day so far!

It was 5.00 in the evening on a Sunday when I was busy trotting to attend my CAT classes. Not at a long distance was a bevy of beautiful women inquiring something with a guy in his mid thirties. Not having much time, I marched forward to join my group of CAT busters.

I heard their conversation as I just passed by them. They were searching a house for rent. There among the group was standing a gal in her early twenties. She donned a white T-Shirt & a dark blue jean (A real head turner!). Being no different from a usual Stag, I wished to stop by and talk to them; but instinct ordered me to continue trotting.

"Vasanth!" a mellifluous voice came from a source behind me. I turned back only to learn that it was from the gal in her blue jean. I was dumb founded.

She ambled towards me, "You are Vasanth right? Do you remember me?"

Wah! That was a Billion dollar question, if only had I remembered her.

"You are right I'm Vasanth. But I'm sorry I don't recognize you" she stared at me as I replied.

"You did your 4 years of bachelors in CIT (Coimbatore Institute of technology) and you don't remember me?"

Tens of questions filled my mind. Poor memory had always been my biggest problem that made me lose many things in life. But this time, the cost seemed huge!

"You still don't recognize me? Well I'm Preethi"

"Preethi?"

I was cursing my memory; it hasn't been more embarrassing ever before. I wasn't able to recognize her even by her name.

"Well you did your engineering in E&C. You should be able to recognize me now. I just joined TCS, here in Tidel"

I was no popular figure in my college and I dint knew a gal would know me until then. I wondered if she was my any of my juniors.

"Ok. Don't kill your brains! I was your mentor for your communication lab when you were doing the final year of your bachelor's"

Yes, She was senior to me by a year and she was one of my staffs in my communication laboratry. A feeling of excitement suddenly changed to a sense of respect & courtesy.

"Maam?"

"Hey! just don't call me maa'm, my friends are here; they'll start kidding me"

God this is something more than kidding. There was an exchange of whereabouts for a while.

"Okay Vasanth, meet you later" saying which she joined her group who were still busy searching for a house.

I was still there trying to understand what had just happened when my mobile buzzed.

"Hey man, where are you? We are running late for our classes" That was a call from one of the CAT aspirants.

"Machan....... Maths is not everything!" I said as I continued walking.
